Oana ; Malawian Upcoming Female Sensation

After years of the Malawian music industry having a significant inadequacy of female artists; 2025 seems to be a promising year as far as talented female artists are concerned.

The emergence of many female vocalists that truly represent Malawian culture through use of local languages such as Chitumbuka and Chichewa has truly encouraged many and this Mzuzu based artist is no exception.

Oana ; born Joana Gausi, is a singer signed under Porch Time Records (a label that is also currently managing Malawian renowned artist Bucci and former Zathu Band sensation Esther Chitheka under it's gospel brand) who seems to be making waves with her phenomenal talent.

Just days ago, Malawian social media went into a frenzy with news of her releasing her very first music video "Kopa". Influential figures such as renowned actor "Phwedo" and many others joined in, expressing excitement of this release which was dated for Thursday 12 June 2025.

With the day finally here, the big question is,"Was it truly worth the wait?"

It is yet to be answered and after the hype revolving around this release, many are expectant to find out if this just might be the future of Malawian music in the female lane and if she will stand the test of time and prove to be yet another Malawian success story like the "Sheli Banana" hitmaker Emmie Deebo who is also releasing her much awaited album today as well.
